I’m expecting the red one to arrive next week. The handles are not plastic, they’re fabric covered and they look covered in stains. Do you think this method will work or do you think the red dye will bleed? So nervous working with red. Any input is helpful

Yep thats hoe the cubes work if you repeat a series of moves it will eventually return to the same position it started in. Your cube mustve started in a solved position
